The Winter Coat Launch

The national launch for the winter clothing project was held in Ajloun on Thursday with dignitaries from GUVS (General Union of Volunteer Societies) and the local governance and media in attendance.
We were seated center front row, along with Amer and the president of GUVS.

The president of GUVS is a chain smoker. . .

The program included a speech by a representative of the "organization saint project manager last day charity LDSC" (Lynn).
A major Jordan TV station aired coverage on the evening news.  Below is a link to the news program.  (The segment about the winter clothing project is located around the 38 minute mark.)

The coats and other items were good quality and very well accepted.

Handicapped children from one of the local schools danced the "happy dance."

Afterward the dignitaries were invited to a very nice lunch.  Lynn sat by the president of GUVS and the Governor.  Unfortunately neither one could speak English and Amer was seated at the opposite end of the table.  Frustrating!!

GUVS leadership has done an outstanding job with sorting and preparing bags and boxes containing winter clothing and hygiene kits for 8,900 children.  The packages will be delivered directly to a GUVS selected local society in each of five different communities for distribution this week.  Everyone was very happy that the delivery was just in time for the winter season.  Amer was an invaluable asset to the success of this project.  We cannot adequately express how much we appreciate him.  We all realize that being able to carry out the logistics of this massive program so quickly was a blessing and we are very grateful  It was truly a miracle.
